Abridge Golf Club plays host to number of major amateur golf tournaments and has been the South East Regional Open Qualifier venue on a number of occassions. Set in 240 acres of beautiful parkland the Adridge championship course stands at 6704 yards at a par of 72. Offering superb views of the Essex countryside the 5th hole plays as an extremely testing par 5 where generating enough distance off the tee is vital to ensuring you can see the two tier green. The scenic 7th plays as a short and enjoyable par 4 where club selection is important. The 10th marks the beginning of Abridge Gold Clubs version of Amen Corner with the series of three holes being able to make or break your card and placing a high demand on your driving.\r\n\r\nDesigned in 1962 by Henry Cotton, a three times Open Champion during the 1930s and 1940s who he became a successful course architect after his retirement from playing in the early 1950s, the Abridge course features two loops of nine which start and finish at the clubhouse. Over the years ther ehave been a number of strategic amendments made to the course helping it become one of the best golf courses in Essex.
