Aboyne Golf Club is a is along standing golf course, golf was played in Aboyne in the 1870’s, initally on a 9 hole layout of the village green. The club moved in 1905 to its current location where the course was set out by Archie Simpson, the professional at Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, and remained largely unchanged until 1981 when 5 new holes were created to improve the golf course and make it in to the immaculate course it is today.\r\n\r\nLaying in its beautiful highland setting Aboyne Golf Course provides a enjoyable selection of memorable holes combining its natural qualities of rolling parkland to provid more open fairways and the ‘links-esque’ heathland delivering tighter ones. With the inclusion of mature trees and water coming in to play on many holes it provides a great test and an enjoyable outing for golfers whatever their standard whilst also providing superb views of the Dee Valley from Clachnaben to the Lochnagar.
