Overview of Abernethy Golf Club

Abernethy Golf Club is a tradional Highland golf course built on natural moorland surrounded by pine trees, it is a friendly 9 hole course layout that allows the casual golfer to enjoy the course whilst still ensuring low handicappers will need to have a tidy short game to ensure they score well. Established in 1893 Abernethy Golf Club is quite short in modern standards standing at only just over 5,000 yards from the white tee’s and almost 500 yards shorter from the yellows, playing as a par 66 course it’s standard scratch matches from the competition tees but drops two strokes from the yellow markers. For the ladies both par and standard scratch is 68.\r\n\r\nSituated in the Cairngorms National Park various parts of the course play host to an array of wild life species from red squirrels amongst the forest bordered fairways to curlews nesting and the occassional glimpse of an osprey flying overhead.
