Tan-y-Gopa Road, Abergele LL22 8DS
Abergele Golf Club is an 18 hole parkland golf course located in the historic grounds of Gwyrch Castle and can be regarded as one of Wales most pictureque courses. Standing at over 6,000 yards from the yellow, white and blue tees the prevailing winds, some deep greenside bunkers and undulating greens, constructed to USPGA standards, make the Abergele Golf Course a test for golfers of all standards. The par 4 holes with their strategically placed bunkers are challenging and the par 5s all have their own individual features to keep you honest and thinking about your game. The 18th is the courses signature hole, the tee lies someway behind the 17th green elevated on the hillside, the fairway speeds downs the hillside through a narrow gap between a group of large trees on one side and dense woodland on the other making it a formidable task to protect a good medal card. Once safely negotiated you’ll be left with the decision of whether to attack the green or lay up short of the ditch and chip up towards the pin.
